What is changing with BCBS lab coverage?
Starting December 1, 2024, LabCorp will be the only lab covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). If you're a BCBS member, you must use LabCorp for your lab work to ensure coverage.
When does this change take effect?
The change will be effective from December 1, 2024. Please use LabCorp for lab work after this date to maintain your coverage.
Why is this change happening?
BCBS made this decision as part of their network management. While we don't have specific details on their reasoning, such changes are often made to streamline services and manage costs.
What if I've been using a different lab?
If you've been using a different lab, you'll need to switch to LabCorp for your lab work starting December 1, 2024, to ensure your services are covered by BCBS. Rest assured, all your previous lab results from other labs remain an integral part of your medical records with Dr. Kalmbacher. We'll continue to use this historical data in managing your care while moving forward with LabCorp for new tests.
Will this affect my current treatment or test results?
This change should not affect your current treatment. However, if you have ongoing lab work, you may need to switch to LabCorp for future tests. We will help ensure a smooth transition.
What if I have more questions about this change?
BCBS is here to help! You may call the BCBS team at 1-855-890-7416. They'll be happy to assist you with specific questions about your coverage.
